Nether Highway

Connecting the many projects we have worked on is the Nether highway. In Minecraft, the Nether is approximately 64 times smaller in area than the Overworld. This means that the length and width of the Nether world are 8 times smaller than the Overworld.

Traveling through the Nether is the superior travel mode, as it by default ensures that the player moves through the world 8 times faster than with normal running. Couple that with ice running and the Nether highway makes for the most optimal and resource-cheap method for travel.

The buttons on the floor are meant to spawn proof the nether highway. Not having these buttons is not a big deal if we travel the nether highway by foot, but using a boat is a much faster transportation method by ice. Mobs obstruct the hitbox of boats, making it more difficult to travel like this. This makes the buttons an essential addition in this nether highway, since boat travel is our prime transportation mode.

Isolating the nether highway from the outside is also one of its essential features. Not only does it prevent mobs from entering the highway, but it also solves the problem of ghast attacks. Preventing Ghast attacks is essential, as they break the nether highway with their fireballs.
